Information Collection
Registration:
In order to become a Xuropa member you must create an account on this web site
by following the registration process. During registration you are required to
provide the following information: full name, email address, location, your Technology Field, your Primary
Role, a brief summary of your professional background (current
occupation), and account password.
My Profile:
Once a user, you may provide additional information regarding the Specializations and Skills
you have acquired in your career. While
this information is optional, it is well worth the short time it will take to
complete these parts of your profile as we use it to better personalize your
Xuropa experience and it enables you better connect to the right people within
the community.
To further save you time, we have provided an import tool
that brings your LinkedIn profile over to your Xuropa Profile - phew!
Information about your Contacts
In order to invite others to connect with you directly in Xuropa you will enter
their names and email addresses. This information will be used by Xuropa to
send your invitation with a description of Xuropa. The names and email
addresses of people that you invite will not be stored or otherwise used by
Xuropa.
Cookies & Log Files:
Like most web sites, cookie and log file data is used to craft your Xuropa experience
and maximize its utility to you the user. As such, unfortunately, if your browser settings do not allow cookies,
you will not be able to use the Xuropa platform. Xuropa also uses cookie and log data to track how the platform is
used. This helps us to better focus our
energies on those features and functions that you find most useful. A cookie is best described as a small data file
that Xuropa transfers to your computer so that we can recognize you when you
sign in and use the Xuropa platform.
There are two types of cookies that we use, "persistent"
and "session". A persistent cookie is
set once you have signed in to your Xuropa account. The next time you visit the
Xuropa platform, the persistent cookie will allow us to recognize you as an
existing user so you will not need to log in before using the service. In order
to access or change any of your private information (like a credit card
number), however, you must log in securely again with your password even if
your computer contains your persistent cookie. Additionally, if you log out of
the Xuropa site you will need to re-enter your password the next time you visit
in order to log in to your account. A session cookie is used to identify a
particular visit to the Xuropa site. Session cookies expire after a short time
or when you close your web browser.
Standard
Internet-based Information Exchange
Determined by the standards used to implement the internet
itself, the Xuropa platform automatically receives other types of information
when you visit. For example, we receive
the URL of the site from which you came and the site to which you are going
when you leave Xuropa. We also receive the Internet protocol (IP) address of
your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your
computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, as well as the
name of your ISP. We use this information to improve the Xuropa service. The
linkage between your IP address and your personally identifiable information is
never shared with third-parties without your permission or except when required
by law.
Advertising and Web Beacons:
We strongly believe that the Xuropa Online Trade ShowSM is well worth the nominal
registration fee we ask you to provide. We also work very hard to bring the best possible experience on the
lowest cost structure we can manage. With these aims, we intend to keep the site and your experience
ad-free. Let's use that screen real
estate for something useful!
Information Use
Xuropa is an online service dedicated to achieving two
objectives:
1. To assist professionals to build and effectively leverage their
network to be more successful in their careers.
2. To bring transparency and efficiencies to product and service supply
chains by connecting professionals and companies to suppliers and their
products.
In order to achieve these two objectives, the information
that you choose to provide that would identify you personally is used to help
you describe yourself and your products or services to others. We also use this
information to better craft your experience and make the utilization of the
platform more effective for you. Other
information, such as usage patterns, etc. are collected by Xuropa and is
exclusively owned by Xuropa Inc. This information can be utilized by Xuropa in
such manner as Xuropa, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate.
Xuropa Communications:
We intend to give you the best and easiest tools we can to enable you to
configure the way we communicate with you. As a minimum, Xuropa will communicate with you through email and notices
posted on the Xuropa Platform. This
includes a small series of emails intended to introduce new members to Xuropa
and get the most out of the service.
We may send you promotional information, unless you decide
to opt out of receiving such emails. In
addition, Xuropa will send you notification emails related to the proper
functioning of your account.
Information Sharing
Sharing Information With Third Parties:
Xuropa takes the privacy of our users very seriously. We will never sell, rent,
or otherwise provide your personally identifiable information to any third
parties for sales and marketing purposes. We will only share this type of information with third parties to
carry out your instructions and to provide specific services you have requested.
For example, we use a credit card processing company to bill users for
subscription fees. These third parties do not retain, share, or store any
personally identifiable information except to provide these services and are
bound by strict confidentiality agreements which limit their use of such
information.
Within your "public profile" settings there is an option to
include or exclude your email address from web pages that are openly
viewable. If excluded, your email
address will not be shown publicly, however, Xuropa does not warrant how
third-party search engines will update and maintain their cache.
We may provide aggregated data about the usage of our
services to third-parties for such purposes as we deem, in our sole discretion,
to be appropriate. We may segment our users by field, domain of expertise,
title specialization, geographic location, or company.
Partnering with Other Organizations to Offer Combined
Services:
Xuropa will partner with other online services to give you the combined results
of both services. Use of the combined services will be at your discretion. In these cases, your personally identifiable
information will only be passed from Xuropa to the partner if you choose to use
the combined service.
Communications Between Users:
Many emails you initiate through Xuropa, an invitation sent to a non-user for
instance, will list your email address and name in the header of the message.
Emails you initiate may also provide aggregate information about your network
(for instance how many people are in your network), but will never list the
people to whom you're directly connected. Other communications that you
initiate through the Xuropa website, like a request for contact, will list your
name as the initiator but will not include your personal contact information.
Your contact information will only be shared with another user if both of you
have indicated that you would like to establish contact with each other.
Legal Disclaimer:
It is possible that we may need to disclose personal information when required
by law. We will disclose such information wherein we have a good-faith belief
that it is necessary to comply with a court order, ongoing judicial proceeding,
or other legal process served on our company or to exercise our legal rights or
defend against legal claims.

You can review the personal information you provided us and
make any desired changes to the information, or to the settings for your Xuropa
account, at any time by logging in to your account on the Xuropa website and
editing the information on you're My Profile page. You can also close your
account through the Xuropa website. If you close your Xuropa account, we will
remove your name and other personally identifiable information from our
publicly viewable data. We may retain certain data contributed by you if it may
be necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business
purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data,
account recovery, or if required by law. All retained data will continue to be
subject to the terms of the Xuropa Privacy Policy that you have previously
agreed to. To request that we close your account and remove your information
from the Xuropa service, please send your request to customer_service [at] xuropa [dot] com.

your data on Xuropa is password-protected, and sensitive data (such as credit
card information) is protected by SSL encryption when it is exchanged between
your web browser and our web site. To protect any data you store on our servers
we will regularly audit our system for possible vulnerabilities and attacks and
we use a tier-one secured-access data center.
